Ikats are a woven fabric with a unique vertical pattern. The process of Ikat ('ee-kat') dyeing is intensive resist technique in which the warp and/or weft yarns are bounded and dyed prior to weaving. This technique creates the unique 'blurry' pattern which remains distinct to the ikat weaving traditions.
